The Chief Electoral Officer is a statutory officer of the Legislative Assembly, responsible for the administration of all general elections and plebiscites in the NWT. The Chief Electoral Officer is also responsible for the administration of the Elections and Plebiscites Act, for establishing policies and procedures pertaining to elections and plebiscites, for managing the Register of Territorial Electors, and for providing training and guidance to electoral officers.
